Mirages

To recognize ourselves in others we have to look at them, listen to them, understand them. The road is arduous, it has sorrows and joys, and each of them is reflected in their faces and in their actions.

The stories of refugees are told in the first person in the Espejismos webdoc and in the accompanying videos.

Salam A Asala

Sham Al Asala reminds us the importance of knowing that behind the word refugee there is a lot of suffering. When a person is forced to leave his or her country, he or she does not lose everything he or she has done in life.  We should not hang a label on them and have it represent their whole being and existence.

She and her family were forced to flee even on two occasions in search of security that was impossible to achieve in their place of origin. However, the frustration of being in such a vulnerable situation has never ceased.
